A dugong is a large marine mammal, also known as a “sea cow,” that typically ranges from 2.2 to 3.4 meters (7 to 11 feet) in length and weighs between 230 to 420 kg (500 to 925 pounds). It has a fusiform body, a fluked tail similar to a dolphin’s, and primarily feeds on seagrass in warm coastal waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
